FAQs

Q: Will my child lag behind in English when half of the day is taught in Chinese?
A: Studies show that dual-language immersion students score better in reading (English) and math, regardless of their background. There might, however, be an initial lag in the first three years.

Q: My child is going to Chinese afterschool or Chinese school on the weekend. What benefit does MDL offer?
A: In MDL, the Chinese is learned in language, math, and social studies, so the vocabulary is wider in comparison. Also, since it is integrated in their normal daytime learning, students are prone to accept learning Chinese seamlessly.

Q: My family does not speak Chinese at all. Will my child be able to keep up?
A: Students of non-Chinese-speaking parents constitute the majority in the program. In addition to classroom settings, the teachers use and prepare online resources to help kids if needed.
